The temperatures that need to be controlled during the TPU material forming process are barrel temperature, nozzle temperature, and mold temperature. The former temperature mainly affects the plasticization and flow of the TPU, and the latter temperature affects the flow and cooling of the TPU. The choice of barrel temperature is related to the hardness of the TPU; the nozzle temperature is usually slightly lower than the maximum temperature of the barrel to prevent possible drooling of the melt in the straight-through nozzle. If a self-locking nozzle is used to prevent the flow, the nozzle temperature can also be controlled within the maximum temperature range of the barrel; the mold temperature has a great influence on the intrinsic performance and apparent quality of the TPU product. The temperature of the mold depends on many factors such as the crystallinity of the TPU and the size of the product.
